5 Days 4 Nights IN HONG KONG

Welcome to my blog. Here’s a 5 days 4 nights Hong Kong itinerary with places to eat, stay, and activities. This Hong Kong trip I had traveled with my two friends and I will shared my experience in this travel blog.

Accommodation: We stayed at King’s Hotel which is located at Yau Ma Tei temple street night market, a two minute walk distance from Yau Ma Tei MTR station.

Transportation: We bought Octopus card from Klook which operates the same way as the touch n go card in Malaysia. The octopus card can be used on most forms of public transport, as well as for purchases in convenience stores, fast food restaurants, supermarkets and more. It is convenient for us to ride the MTR. The MTR map in every station and on every train has English translations and is colour coded to help us find our way around. The MTR is the easiest and quickest way for us to get around.

Day 5 : Yau Ma Tei> HongKong International Airport> Singapore Changi Airport

Day 1

After landing at Hong Kong International Airport, we took airport express train line to Hong Kong station and took MTR heading to Yau Ma Tei which is the place where our hotel located. After we done check in at our hotel, we started our explore journey at Hong Kong. Our first place to explore is Victoria Peak. We taking the tram to go up the peak. The 1.4km funicular railway is a popular tourist activity in itself. It was a really fun experience to take the tram up the steep hill! Victoria Peak is the highest mountain on Hong Kong island with an elevation of 552 meters. It is also one of the best vantage points for stupendous views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong’s skyscrapers. It is really a greatest views.

Day 2

After breakfast at nearby dim sum restaurant, we went to Tsim Sha Tsui to start our shopping journey. Tsim Sha Tsui is a shopping district in Kowloon. We first went to Harbour City. Harbour City is the most impressive shopping mall in Hong Kong. It is the largest and most diverse mall in the city and there are over 450 shops. Then, we went to DFS T Galleria. T Galleria located at the Sun Plaza Gallery and just across the street from the Harbour City shopping mall. We spent a bit time and money at here because of purchasing the cosmetics. Many labels of skin care and cosmetics from low end to high end.

After that we just walk around at Central and Sheung Wan. We went to a unique Starbucks concept stores at Central. This Starbucks concepts Store at Central is a little different from the rest, incorporating the Hong Kong’s unique cultural history as well as the work of local artists and designers. This throwback concept store is designed after a type of 50’s Hong Kong style cafe known as a big sutt, a precursor to the modern cha chaan teng. Literally meaning “ice room”, the bing sutt was a simple, traditional eatery where customers could enjoy coffee, tea, iced drinks, and snacks.

Day 3

Our destination for third day in Hong Kong was Disneyland! We enjoyed 10% in savings by booking Disneyland tickets through Klook, its cost us around RM277. We also can skipped the long lines at the entrance and simply flashed our in-app voucher to enter the gates. This is my very first visit to Disneyland so I was very excited! I loved the show of flights of fantasy parade, it is a 35minutes interactive celebration of Disney characters in colourful themed floats with an accompaniment of Disney classic songs making it quite magical, joyous, and fun. Guests are gathered around the whole area of the park and had their own best spot. When the time struck 1.30 pm a loud voice from the presenter echoed in the whole park. We collectively fell in love with the park’s charm, intricately detailed attraction, and entertainment.

Day 4

Our plan for day 4 is going to explore the Lantau Island. We took MTR to Tung Chung Station and took Ngong Ping 360 cable car up to mountain. At the cabin, we enjoyed the breathtaking panorama of the Hong Kong International airport, verdant mountainous terrain of Lantau Island, the Big Buddha and the 360-degree view of Ngong Ping Plateau. The Big Buddha also known as Tian Tan Buddha, is the second largest outdoor bronze seated Buddha. It stands at 34 meters high and is one of the Hong Kong’s most popular sights. It is seated south and facing north towards Beijing, the capital of China. Before leaving Lantau Island, we enjoyed a meal at its popular vegetarian restaurant.

After leaving Lantau Island, we having our dinner at Mong Kok. Mong Kok is one of the busiest areas in Hong Kong. People flooded the streets from all directions and there were performers on the street. It was easy for us to walk around the entire area. Although crowded and chaotic, walking along the pedestrian zone was enjoyable. There were so many Sasa and Bonjour stores and we bought a lot of masks from Sasa and Bonjour because the price was cheaper than the price in Malaysia.

Day 5

Trying local street foods is a must in Hong Kong. Before leaving Hong Kong, we went to nearby restaurant to try some local street foods. Hong Kong is famous for food. There’s so much good food to be had in Hong Kong and it can be confusing to decide where to go. After having our last meal in Hong Kong, we took the train to the airport.

Bye Hong Kong.

    1. Hi Jade! I think the most interesting part is that I have learnt a few new words and phrases in Cantonese through this trip because the majority of residents of Hong Kong speak Cantonese so I learnt that when I communicated with them.

    1. 1) Open Rice – Hong Kong most comprehensive dining guide, which includes over 40,000 restaurants and 600,000 reviews. Customers use this app to leave reviews for food they eat at local Hong Kong.

      2) Hong Kong Disneyland App – This app lists all of the major attractions at the park. This allows you to keep an eye on current queuing times at the various rides, see show times and character meet times, maps and information on temporary shows and events.

      3) Google Maps – It is easy to use and familiar. You can download offline maps while still connected to the internet to make sure you always know where you are.

      4) Klook – Selling exciting activities, products and tickets in Hong Kong, and make your vacation convenient.

    1. When I traveled to Hong Kong, I found that Hong Kongers are fast doers and walkers. So try not to walk slow and block anyone’s way as this will surely leave the locals irritated.
